“Envy” is a view from the “inside” of a New York City cityscape. Looking out onto the city as a voyeur, one is captivated by the lights and charm of the city, but inside one’s thoughts are feelings of envy for those surrounding them as well as one’s surroundings. On the outside, one can seem calm, with the color blue emoting this calmness, but on the inside, envy takes over. The use of iridescent paint reflects these emotions as one’s perspective changes.

Autumn Blaze began as a photograph of the woods, where weeds and brush dominated the landscape. However, the final image evolved into an explosion of colors, where the wildflowers were muted in the dull light of the moment I clicked the shutter. Rather than settling for a boring photograph of weeds and branches, I used the patterns as a base to build upon and create something unique.
